美国国家航空航天局（NASA）在其官方写作指南中明确指出，在描述航天器结构时应使用“The spacecraft comprises a command module, service module, and lunar module”，以体现整体对部分的包含关系。若改用compose，则必须写成被动式：“The spacecraft is composed of...”。
许多学习者误以为“comprised of”是标准搭配。事实上，“comprised of”在正式写作中应避免使用。例如，错误说法：“The team is comprised of experts.” 正确说法应为：“The team comprises experts.” 或 “The team is composed of experts.” 这一细节常被忽略，却直接影响语言的专业性。
