主唱瑞恩·泰德早于2003年就写成了《Apologize》的歌词并进入Timbaland旗下担任制作人，和ZachFilkins等人组成乐队后，等待4年才发布了原版的《Apologize》 。
Timbaland在他的第二张录音室专辑中重新混合了这首歌，包括额外的打击乐线，新的支持声音，增加声音样本，除了声音混合和其他各种小的变化。第二节之后的吉他独奏被省略了，完成了对R&B风格的转换，使之与之相适应。
